Pick the headset by the floor, not the person

The failure we see most: a contact centre buys wireless ANC headsets for every agent, and supervisors can no longer catch anyone's eye.

HS-D

HS-D: a wireless noise cancelling headset for the office floor

Pictured at the top of this page. Matte graphite, over-ear on both sides, fold-down boom.

3 micsActive noise cancelling, two on the cups, one on the boom

The boom microphone carries your voice; the cup microphones cancel the floor around you. Fold the boom up and it mutes.

The HS-D is the headset for people who sit in open plan and spend half the day on calls. Both ears are covered with closed cushions, and the 3-mic active noise cancelling takes the low rumble of air conditioning and the chatter of the next bank of desks out of what you hear. The boom picks up your voice close to the mouth, so the person on the other end gets you and not your neighbour.

It ships with a USB dongle already paired, which is what we recommend for laptops. Bluetooth pairs a phone at the same time. The dongle is the reason we sell this model and not a consumer earbud: a dedicated radio does not drop out when the laptop's own Bluetooth is busy with a mouse and a keyboard.

We set the firmware, sign it into Teams or Zoom on a test machine, and run it for 48 hours before it is labelled with the user's name. Ordering forty? They arrive in forty labelled bags, not one carton.

Who it is not for: agents whose supervisor needs to reach them by voice, and anyone who hates the closed feeling of over-ear cushions in a Texas August. For those, see the HS-M below.

HS-M

HS-M: a wired mono USB headset for contact centres

The HS-M weighs 140 g and covers one ear. That is the whole point. An agent on calls for eight hours wants something they forget they are wearing, and the open ear lets them hear the team lead walking over with a question.

It is wired. No battery dies at 4 pm and no pairing gets lost after a laptop swap. The inline control has mute and volume where the hand falls. The USB plug goes straight into a desk dock or a thin client.

The band is low enough to issue one per person. We push that, because shared headsets on a shift floor are where ear infections and broken booms come from. Each unit is tested on the softphone you use before it ships, in batches labelled by team.

Order to desk

How a headset order runs

Ten headsets or two hundred, the steps are the same. Large orders take a few days longer on the bench.

  1. Day 1

    Seats and floor type

Tell us how many people, which platform and softphone, and whether they sit in open plan or on a call floor. We reply with the mix and a written quote.

  2. Week 1

    Firmware and burn-in

Every headset gets the firmware your IT team approves and 48 hours on the bench, with a test call on your platform. Faulty units are swapped before they reach you.

  3. Week 2

    Labelled and shipped

Bagged per user or per team, with the dongle already paired. Austin-area orders can be delivered to the desk.

Straight answers on headsets

Can we mix both models?

Yes, and most offices with a support team do. Sales and management on HS-D, the help desk on HS-M.

Will ANC fix a loud call floor?

It fixes what the wearer hears. What the caller hears depends on the boom. On a dense call floor, the mono headset with a close boom is the better microphone for the money.

Do you sell earbuds?

No. Earbud microphones sit far from the mouth and pick up the room. We would rather sell fewer headsets that sound right.

Can I return a headset someone has worn?

Not for a change of mind once it has been worn; ear cushions do not go back on the shelf. Faults are covered by the manufacturer warranty, which we pass through; the details are on the warranty page.

Headset inquiry

How many people, and where do they sit?

Seat count, platform and floor type. We answer with a mix and a band per headset.

Leave a phone or an email. One is enough.

We answer within one working day. No quote is binding until it is in writing.
